With laptops rarely featuring serial ports nowadays, if you need to use serial devices, installing the PL2303 driver will help convert USB ports into serial ports. All three chips—FT232, CH340, and PL2303—are equally stable and priced. PL2303 is the most commonly used due to its affordability. However, for embedded development, delays may occur at baud rates like 115200. CH340, developed by Nanjing QinHeng, performs well and meets the requirements for ordinary applications. The best option, FT232, is stable and reliable and is widely used in USB to serial download cables and programmers.
